The
"Hologram Convergence Industry Seminar" was held at Hotel Geumosan
(Geumosan-ro, Gumi-si) on the afternoon of the 27th with more than 100 people
attending, including companies, industry, academia, research experts,
lawmakers, and city council members.
The
event prompted local businesses to actively respond to shifts in industrial
ecosystems such as next-generation display technology and markets based on an
understanding of hologram technology. Helping
local businesses examine new frontiers and business models, the event was
prepared as a venue for information exchange between industry, academia, and
research.
Guest
speaker, Kim Eunsoo, head of the HoloDigilog Human Media Research Center, was
invited to speak about the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the hologram
convergence industry. Kim emphasized that "hologram tech is a key
technology that will drive a people-based fourth industrial revolution, and
potentially solve economic growth and social problems simultaneously.”
Following
Kim was head of the Gyeongsangbuk-do ICT industry team, Hong In-ki, who
introduced plans to foster the hologram industry and promote demonstration.
Next, Professor Kang Hoonjong of Wonkwang University introduced preliminary
project plans for innovative hologram technology,
Session
2 focused on hologram technology and industry trends. Kim Taegeun, Sejong
University professor spoke on hologram acquisition technology; Hong Sunghee,
head of the Electronic Components Research Institute, introduced hologram
processing technology (Open Holo platform); Kim Dohyeong, Korea Electronics and Telecommunications
Research Institute member introduced 'plenoptics acquisition and authoring
technology’ (hologram content reproduction); Professor Lee Seunghyun of
Kwangwoon University spoke on ‘Hologram visualization technology (digital
hologram printing technology)’; Lee Haksoon of SKT introduced SKT’s ‘Laser
Display’; and Lee Sunoh, CEO of Higgs Company spoke on industry trends of
holographic microscopes for semiconductor display manufacturing’ (3D
Nanoscopy).’
In
addition to simple industrial applications, hologram technology is expected to
realize advancement in various fields including medical care, culture, and
education while paving the way for ultra-realistic content services. The
technology also enables a more detailed inspection of errors, defects,
diseases, etc. in the manufacturing processes at industrial sites. It further
allows interaction with people and products in their absence.
Meanwhile,
having passed preliminary feasibility studies for hologram technology
development in June, Gumi City was selected as a demonstration area for
"Hologram Factory" and "Hologram Heritage"
commercialization. Starting next year, the city plans to discover and nurture
hologram-related companies for the early commercialization of hologram
technology development. <저작권자ⓒ 한국의 경제뉴스통신사 NSP통신·NSP TV. 무단전재-재배포 금지>
